Lead Alternative
Stainless Steel, a viable material for replacing lead on church roofs
Stainless steel is largely used as a lead replacement where theft of the lead used on a roof has been a problem. Terne-coated stainless steel has broad support around the country and is now commonly used on churches. It looks attractive and performs well on traditional buildings and can have a lifetime of more than 50 years.
Haydock Slating have all the equipment needed to carry out these kind of works in house. We have completed various roofing projects that involved lead replacement with stainless steel. The complete replacement of all lead gutters to the Polish Club in Chorley, Lancashire, with stainless steel was carried out successfully and it is a good example of how this material can be used for roofing works.
